The Football Journal has discovered that Chelsea are planning to part company with manager Antonio Conte regardless of the FA Cup result on Saturday. This comes from a disappointing Premier League campaign, and the news that Conte has fallen out of favour with bosses and senior players alike.
Willian has hinted at a rift between him and the Blues boss in a recent interview. He was asked by ESPN Brasil what his relationship was like between him and his manager, to which he replied, “Oh boy! Do you really want me to tell you? Well, come other … let’s save it for the next interview”. This is also indicates that he is aware the Italian is on the way out.
The Brazilian is seen as one of the best players at Stamford Bridge and was voted as Chelsea Players’ Player of the Season, showing also that he is held in high regard by his team mates. Despite the award, the 29-year old only started in one of the last five Premier League games under Conte.
The Chelsea hierarchy are also starting to grow tired of the Italian after an abysmal Premier League season. The 2016/17 champions failed to qualify for the Champions League for just the second time since 2002.
And this ultimately will spell the end to his Chelsea career as the club look to other targets to take charge. They will wait until after the FA Cup final to try not to disturb preparations, but he is likely to lose his job next week.
