About Pilates

Pilates focuses on improving core strength and muscular imbalances, which will have a positive impact on your overall health and wellbeing.

Pilates exercises are done on a mat or using special equipment, such as the Reformer, Cadillac and Wunda Chair. With its system of pulleys and springs, handles and straps, Pilates apparatus can provide either resistance or support, depending on your needs.

Pilates has something to offer people of all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite athletes.

Pilates can improve posture, muscle tone, balance, and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension. It can also provide pain relief should you suffer from non-specific lower back pain.

For elite athletes and dancers, Pilates can complement training by developing whole-body strength and flexibility and help reduce the risk of injury.

Pilates whilst wonderful on its own, is a perfect complement to cardiovascular activities, athletic training and rehabilitative therapies such as physiotherapy, chiropractic treatment and osteopathy.

Pilates is classed as a muscle-strengthening activity, which can help you maintain a healthy weight.

About Functional Movement

The aim of Functional Movement training is to improve physical activities elsewhere in life.

Whether you want to walk, squat to pick up something heavy,  or get in and out of a chair—or play amateur or professional sport - a functional workout will strengthen you in a way that directly translates to the activity you desire by using real-life, natural actions that create real-life chain reactions in your body.

Your muscles in your body work together as part of a chain reaction. Functional movement training works to incorporate the whole body, thereby building strength holistically and helping your body learn to function as the wonderful fully integrated system it was created to be.

Functional training can improve the overall function of your body, boosting muscle strength, joint mobility and stability, and endurance, thus allowing you to complete everyday (and extraordinary) activities more efficiently.

Functional movement training is suitable for all ages, fitness levels and body types as it is fully adapted to the individual.

A functional body will protect you from injury and help you to stay in good shape for later life, with free and easy movement for years to come.
